Objective:To study the situation of the viral etiology of the acute upper respiratory infections in Beijing area during May to December 2009,and to discuss the respiratory viral epidemiology in Beijing to provide the background data for the preventive strategy.Methods:11 kinds of common respiratory viruses: human metapneumovirus, adenovirus, parainfluenza virus l,2,3,influenza virus B,respiratory syncytial virus A,B,human rhinovirus A/B,human coronavirus OC43/HUK1,229E/NL63 were detected in 626 influenza A negative throat swabs simultaneously by multiplex RT-PCR.Results:115 positive samples were identified from the 626 swabs, the positive rate was 18.37%.The coinfections caused by more than 2 kinds of viruses were 14,which occupied 12.17% of the positive samples.PIV was the mostly detected pathogen in May,June and July,HRV was the mostly detected pathogen in August,September and December.PIV1 was the mostly detected pathogen in patients under 15,PIV3 was the mostly detected pathogen in patients older than 15.Conclusion:PIV and HRV were the main pathogens leading to the acute upper respiratory infections in Beijing area during May to December 2009 besides influenza A virus.
