A new therapeutical approach for vitiligo: Topical use of L-Tyrosine

The authors, considering the Tyrosine an important factor in the melanin synthesis, have tested in 50 patients with vitiligo, a gel formulation of a topical product containing L-Tyrosine. The study has been conduced using UVB-UVA phototherapy with previous local administration of the product. In the patients have been tested also haematological parameters, especially about thyroid function. The satisfactory results of the treatment (64% of patients with repigmentation above 60%) and the innocuity of the product, show the efficacy of this therapeutical approach, especially in young people, without thyroid diseases, with localized and recent vitiligo.
