Home living older people's personal resources: a systematic literature review.

The purpose of this systematic literature review is to describe home living older people's personal resources. The literature was searched from databases: Cinahl, CocraneLibrary, Josku, Linda, Medic, PubMed and Psyclnfo. The search included years 20052009. There were found 1 339 national and international articles. In total, 17 articles were included to the final analysis based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Based on the analysis social relationships and the elements of meaningful daily living were the resources of home living older peoples. Social relationships including family relations and friendships were significant resources. The elements of meaningful daily living included among other things activities of daily living capacity and physical and psychological well-being. The things supporting older people's resources were health promoting home care services and the safety and functionality of the environment. The results can be utilized in developing methods to improve home care services and nursing.
