To evaluate efficacy of lidocaine gel and lidocaine ice button as topical anesthesia for maxillary buccal infiltration technique in children aged 6-10 years: a randomized cross- over study

INTERVENTION: Intervention1: Lidocaine ice button: The Lidocaine Ice button will be made containing viscous lidocaine HCL 2%, 20mg/ml, about 2ml in a silicon mold with a stick and refrigerated overnight and used as a topical anaesthetic. The topical lidocaine ice button will be held at the injection site at the muccobuccal fold for 1 minute and local infiltration will be given. Control Intervention1: Lidocaine gel: 2% lignocaine HCL gel will be used as topical anaesthetic for 1 minute at the site of injection that is at mucobuccal fold of teeth. CONDITION: Health Condition 1: K029‐ Dental caries, unspecified PRIMARY OUTCOME: To evaluate the efficacy of lidocaine gel and lidocaine Ice button as topical anaesthesia for maxillary buccal infiltration technique in children aged 6‐10years.Timepoint: At baseline soon after procedure SECONDARY OUTCOME: To evaluate acceptance of Lidocaine ice button in children aged 6‐10 years.Timepoint: Immediately after Local anesthesia is delivered in the same appointment. INCLUSION CRITERIA: 1. Healthy children of 6‐10 years old. 2. Children indicated for at least two clinical sessions of dental procedures requiring a maxillary buccal infiltration. 3. Children who exhibited Franklâ??s[18] behaviour rating three or four i.e., positive, and definitely positive. 4. No prior experience of dental anaesthesia
