A full-scale trial was conducted to determine whether incorporating a cholesterol measurement into instructional strategies with/without feedback would enhance learning. 754 10th graders completed a 120-item assessment instrument. Physical education and health education classes were randomly selected to receive cholesterol measurement at baseline and at 6 wks following a health unit. Results show that instruction by itself is a very powerful intervention technique in affecting knowledge and behavior. Findings indicate that feedback, as used in the study, is not effective with secondary level students. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2021 APA, all rights reserved)
