OBJECTIVE: To explore the application effect of timing intervention guided by midnightnoon ebb-flow theory combined with auricular acupoint pressing with beans on patients with essential hypertension. METHODS: Eighty patients with essential hypertension who were admitted to Nantong Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2020 to January 2021 were included in the study. The assignment was made by random number table METHOD: a control group (40 cases ) and an observation group (40 cases). Both groups were given routine intervention. The control group was given traditional auricular acupoint pressing with beans, and the observation group was given timing intervention guided by midnight-noon ebb-flow theory combined with auricular acupoint pressing with beans. The intervention lasted for 30 days. The traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores, 24 hr ambulatory blood pressure, and quality of life were compared between the two groups. RESULTS: After 7, 15, and 30 days of intervention, the TCM syndrome scores of the two groups were lower than those before intervention (all P < 0. 05 ), and gradually decreased over time (all P < 0. 05). Compared with the control group, the TCM syndrome scores of the observation group at each time point were lower (all P < 0. 05). After 7, 15, and 30 days of intervention, the systolic and diastolic blood pressure in the two groups were decreased (all P < 0. 05), and the systolic and diastolic blood pressure in the observation group at each time point were lower than those in the control group (all P < 0. 05). After 30 days of intervention, the scores of all dimensions of quality of life in the two groups were higher than those before intervention (all P < 0. 05), and the scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (all P < 0. 05). CONCLUSION: The timing intervention guided by midnight-noon ebb-flow theory combined with auricular acupoint pressing with beans can improve the ambulatory blood pressure level of patients with essential hypertension, reduce the TCM syndrome scores, relieve the symptoms, and improve the quality of life.
