OBJECTIVE: To compare and observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture and simvastatin in the treatment of patients with hyperlipidemia. METHODS: Sixty patients with hyperlipidemia were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group, 30 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated with acupuncture and the control group was treated with medication. The changes of clinical syndromes, blood lipid biochemistry and BMI were observed in the two groups. RESULTS: Acupuncture and moxibustion could significantly improve the levels of cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein and triglyceride, and there was no significant difference in blood lipid reduction between the two groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: Acupuncture and moxibustion can significantly improve blood lipid biochemical indicators, and the effect is not different from that of simvastatin.
