Developed and assessed the validity of the 3 factor SEES, a measure of global psychological responses to the stimulus properties of exercise. Two factors correspond to the positive and negative poles associated with psychological health, Positive Well-Being and Psychological Distress, whereas the 3rd factor represents subjective indicants of Fatigue. The 3-factor structure originally established by exploratory factor analysis using data from 454 undergraduates in Study 1 was also supported by confirmatory factor analytic techniques using data from 100 middle-aged exercising adults in Study 2. Moreover, convergent and discriminant validity for the SEES subscales was demonstrated in Study 3, with 51 middle-aged adults enrolled in an exercise program for previously sedentary adults, by examining relations with measures of affect regularly employed in an exercise domain.
