Objective: The aim of this study is to assess the epidemiological profile of patients Goiânia Burns Emergency Hospitalin August 2013, identifying factors that may contribute to development of preventive actions burns. Method: A cross-sectional study conducted in August 2013, at the Goiânia burns first aid post, in the ward of physical therapy, out patient and hospitalization. Data were collected in two days, 23 to 26 August 2013, by a questionnaire developed by the researchers, which contained social aspect issues, mechanism of injury, depth and extent of the burn.The sample consisted of 34 individuals who were asked to verbally participate. Of these individuals, two refused to participate and one had not burn. Burn victims attended at Goiânia Burns Emergency Hospital were included, and the patients with physical therapy, out patient and hospitalization. Patients who did not have burns were excluded from the study. Results: We asked 31 subjects, aged between one and 83 years, mean 30 years, predominantly male (58%), single (58%), with incomplete primary education (39%), residentin Goiás and other States (58%) and who did not attend lectures on prevention of burns (74%). For classification, the most frequent was the 3rd degree with 61% of cases, the 2nd degree got 13% and the1st degree 7%, 19% of patients had burns to more than one classification. The residence was the place that was the most accidents (45%), followed by traffic accidents (39%), work (10%), leisure (3%) and others (3%). Conclusion: The study found that accidents usually occur domestic environment, so you need to press for home security.
