OBJECTIVE: To explore the clinical effect of salt-separated turtle shell moxibustion combined with integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine nursing on the treatment of urinary tract infection in middle-aged and elderly women. METHODS: From June 2020 to December 2021, 80 middle-aged and elderly female patients diagnosed with urinary tract infection at Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine were included. The patients were divided into control and observation groups by using a random number table, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine nursing of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine, and the observation group was treated with salt-separated turtle shell moxibustion in addition to the nursing method of the control group. The traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores, white and red blood cell counts in the urine, and clinical efficacy were compared between the two groups. RESULTS: After 2 weeks of nursing, the scores of frequent urination, urgent urination, post-void dribbling, urethral orifice discomfort, abdominal distension, and soreness of loins in the two groups were lower than those before nursing (all P < 0. 05), and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (all P lt; 0. 05). After 3 days and 2 weeks of nursing, the white and red blood cell counts in the urine of the two groups were less than those before nursing (all P < 0. 05), and the above indicators of the observation group were less than those of the control group (all P < 0. 05). The total effective rate of the observation group was significantly better than that of the control group (P < 0. 05). CONCLUSION: Saltseparated turtle shell moxibustion can effectively improve the urinalysis indicators and reduce the traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores of middle-aged and elderly female patients with urinary tract infection, and has a significant curative effect.
