This comparative study provides evidence that amantadine derivatives have highly effective antiparkinsonian characteristics, amantadine sulphate being superior to amantadine hydrochloride with regard to tolerance, dosage and clinical efficacy. This superiority is probably due to the fact that amantadine sulphate is better tolerated and can therefore be administered in higher doses.
