A randomized multi-intervention trial to inhibit gastric cancer is conducted among 3800 adults in Linqu, Shandong province, an area of China with one of the world's highest rates of stomach cancer. The three interventions are: (a) Treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection with amoxicillin and omeprazole; (b) Daily supplementation with a combination of VE, VC and Selenium and (c) Daily supplementation with garlic extracts. The trial employs a placebo-controlled double-blind randomized 2 factorial design and will last for 7 years. So far, the compliance of having nutrients and garlic extracts is 90%. The eradication of H. pylori is 63.9% in the initial treatment, and was 33.9% in the retreatment. The combined cradication rate was 76.1%.
