The Effect of 2 methods, Superficial and Deep Massage, on weight gain in low birth weight infants

INTERVENTION: In the interventional group(1): Each infant received Superficial tactile‐ kinesthetic stimulation (massage) for three 15‐minute periods, 30‐45 minutes after feeding in the morning, afternoon and evening for 10 consecutive days. In the interventional group(2): Each infant received Deep tactile‐ kinesthetic stimulation (massage) for three 15‐minute periods, 30‐45 minutes after feeding in the morning, afternoon and evening for 10 consecutive days. Intervention 1: In the interventional group(2): Each infant received Deep tactile‐ kinesthetic stimulation (massage) for three 15‐minute periods, 30‐45 minutes after feeding in the morning, afternoon and evening for 10 consecutive days. Intervention 2: In the interventional group(1): Each infant received Superficial tactile‐ kinesthetic stimulation (massage) for three 15‐minute periods, 30‐45 minutes after feeding in the morning, afternoon and evening for 10 consecutive days. Intervention 3: The control group: just routine care. The control group: just routine care CONDITION: Disorders related to short gestation and low birth weight, not elsewhere classified Weight gain in Low birth weight infants. ; Disorders related to short gestation and low birth weight, not elsewhere classified PRIMARY OUTCOME: Weight gaining. Timepoint: In the beginning of the study, 5th and 10th day after it. Method of measurement: Special scales of infants weighing (accuracy of ± 10 gr). INCLUSION CRITERIA: INCLUSION CRITERIA: birth weight <2500g, age<18days, breast‐feeding, Iranian race. Exclusion criteria: congenital heart malformation, pulmonary diseases, gastrointestinal and neuromuscular disorders, NPO or TPN, respiratory distress, sepsis and blood exchange during study, maternal addiction and lack of adherence to study.
