BACKGROUND: This study was designed to provide simulated clinical scenarios for practical nursing students in a distance education program. METHOD: This mixed methods pre–post test experimental design study used a nonprobability convenience sample of 33 students. RESULTS: Participation in simulation scenarios resulted in a statistically significant increase in student knowledge. Students also revealed an increased sense of connectedness and self-confidence. CONCLUSION: The project proved to be an effective strategy for teaching nursing in a distance learning program.
