Objective Reporting the examining results of urinalysis and renal function of SARS patients. Analyzing the probable causes of the abnormal results and the traditional Chinese medical treatment to it. Methods SPSS10.0 software were used to analyze the examining results of urinalysis and BUN, creatinine in serum of 55 cases of SARS patients. The results were compared with 37 cases of health people of corresponding period. Then analyzed the same examining results of 24 in the 55 cases half a year later after they had been charged. Result When they were admitted to hospital, 47.3% of the 55 cases had RBC in their urine, 29.1% had proteinuria. BUN of 29.1% was under normal but their creatinine was all within normal. Comparing to the 37 cases of health people, the proportion of proteinuria was high. As to the 24 cases of following trail patients, 13 of them still had RBC in their urine, only 1 case had proteinuria. All of their BUN and creatinine had no obvious abnormality. Conclusion As far as most minor or middle level of SARS patients were concerned, renal damage might be emerged. But this kind of damage might be light and reversible. As to the traditional Chinese medical treatment of SARS, more attention should be paid to eliminating dampness and clearing heat, avoiding evil heat drifting to XiaJiao (including kidney and urinary bladder etc.).
