Port-wine stains and Laser

This paper deals with the treatment of hemangiomas using Laser beam. The author considers the classification established by Mulliken as fundamental for diagnoses and orientation of treatment. He also emphasizes that total blanching of colour after full treatment of port-wine stains of any significant size is exceptional. He describes the main characteristics of different types of Laser and exposes his experience with the Nd-YAG Laser for treatment of port-wine stains. From a total of 292 patients treated in 150 of them Hexascan was used and the 16% had excellent result. The other 142 patients were treated with Multiscan and the 17% was with excellent result.
