INTERVENTION: A randomized, crossover, double‐blind clinical study (with regard to participants and researchers) was carried out. Sixteen adults aged between 20 and 32 years participated in this study, eight men and seven women, with good general and oral health and residing in a municipality with fluoridation of public water supply. The sample size was determined based on previous findings using a similar experimental protocol, with an effect size of 0.25 (for saliva fluoride concentration as the primary outcome), with a sample power of 0.80 and a total of ten measurements. During four experimental phases, participants were randomly submitted to one of the two fluoride varnishes (Duraphat and Fluorniz) and the use or not of fluoride toothpaste. Unstimulated saliva was collected before and after application on all participants' teeth at different and standardized time intervals after application to determine salivary fluoride concentration. Randomization was performed using Excel for Windows. D01.303 CONDITION: Fluoride; Saliva G03.787.151 PRIMARY OUTCOME: Determination of salivary fluoride concentration in saliva. It is expected to observe an increase in the salivary concentration of fluoride after the application of fluoride varnishes in the initial times after application with a subsequent decline. SECONDARY OUTCOME: Calculate the area under the curve of fluoride concentration in saliva over time. It is expected that the varnishes present a similar area under the curve value and that these values are greater when the fluoride dentifrice is associated with the varnish. INCLUSION CRITERIA: Favorable oral and systemic conditions; availability to participate in the research and comply with the determinations required by the experimental protocol; normal salivary flow; both genders; from 20 to 32 years old
