This multicentre trial, in patients with acne-prone, very oily skin, had two aims: - to compare the clinical efficacy of a skin-care programme based on active ingredients commonly used and of tbe same programme where the formulation of the products had been complemented, to improve the condition of the skin type, by a Vitreoscilla filiformis extract, to demonstrate the benefits of the addition of an extract of Vitreoscilla filiformis, a sulphur bacterium present in spa water. The results of the trial confirmed the seboregulatory, keratolytic and comedolytic efficacy of the products tested and demonstrated the soothing and anti-irritant properties afforded by the Vitreoscilla filiformis extract. In the presence of Vitreoscilla filiformis extract, there was a significant improvement in the criteria of skin irritation and discomfort associated with this skin type.
