INTERVENTION: Subjects were immunised against hepatitis A and subsequently received atorvastatin (40 mg per day) or placebo for a period of 28 days after immunisation. CONDITION: Hepatitis A ; Infections and Infestations ; Hepatitis A PRIMARY OUTCOME: The main outcome variable was the achievement of antibody levels greater than 20 IU/l against the hepatitis A virus one month after vaccination. SECONDARY OUTCOME: 1. A secondary outcome variable was the mean log‐transformed antibody titre ; 2. To document the effects of atorvastatin on total blood cholesterol, Low Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (LDL‐C), High Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (HDL‐C), triglycerides, and high‐sensitivity C‐Reactive Protein (hs‐CRP) INCLUSION CRITERIA: Men and women who were greater than 18 years old were eligible for inclusion if they had neither morbidities nor immunity to hepatitis A
