Complications and long-term outcomes after adnexal surgery by laparotomy and laparoscopy

Category Primary study
Year 1999
This is a critical abstract of an economic evaluation that meets the criteria for inclusion on NHS EED. Each abstract contains a brief summary of the methods, the results and conclusions followed by a detailed critical assessment on the reliability of the study and the conclusions drawn. No statistically significant differences were seen after adnexal surgery by laparoscopy and laparotomy with regard to frequency of complications and subjective outcomes. Laparoscopy in women who have previously undergone laparotomy may be associated with a slightly greater risk of major complications than another laparotomy.
