Pay Attention to Osteoporosis Prevalence in the Future After COVID-19

Currently, the widespread of COVID-19 has aroused global attention and concern. To cope with the outbreak of this epidemic, the Chinese government has implemented the measures of home confinement in mainland China which has achieved outstanding results. However, adhering to the home confinement measures means fewer activities, which is considered as one of the risk factors of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disease characterized by reduced bone mass, deterioration of bone tissues, resulting in a high risk of fractures, which will be a public health problem that cannot be neglect in the future. The purpose of this article is to analyze and estimate the prevalence of osteoporosis in different populations in the future during the COVID-19 epidemic period under the measures of home confinement in China.
