Comprehensive nursing intervention combined with routine nursing care in gallstone patients with gastric ulcer: Nursing effects and impact on epidermal growth factor level

AIM To observe the nursing effects of comprehensive nursing intervention combined with routine nursing in gallstone patients with gastric ulcer and the impact on the level of epidermal growth factor (EGF). METHODS A total of 98 gallstone patients with gastric ulcer were selected from May 2013 to December 2016. The patients were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group. Both groups were given routine nursing care, and the experimental group was additionally given comprehensive nursing intervention. Hospital stay, postoperative blood loss, stone recurrence rate, total nursing satisfaction score and EGF were compared between the two groups. Anxiety and depression scores were also compared. RESULTS The mean postoperative hospital stay was significantly shorter in the experimental group than in the control group (P < 0.05). The average blood loss was significantly lower in the experimental group than in the control group (P < 0.05). The relapse rate of stones in the control group was 20.41% (10/49), which was significantly lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05). The total satisfaction score was significantly higher in the experimental group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in anxiety and depression scores or EGF between the two groups before treatment (P > 0.05). After treatment, anxiety and depression scores and EGF were significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Routine nursing combined with comprehensive nursing intervention in gallstone patients with gastric ulcer can improve nursing satisfaction and EGF level, and reduce the recurrence rate of stones.
