This study examined the contribution of academic libraries to the core functions of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), specifically teaching and learning, research, and consultancy, using the Tanzania Institute of Accountancy as a case study. Grounded in a positivist paradigm, the study employed a quantitative approach and a cross-sectional research design, with data collected from 196 academic and library staff through structured questionnaires. The study analyzed data using descriptive statistics, reliability tests (Cronbach’s Alpha), and the Seemingly Unrelated Regression (SURE) model to assess the interrelated effects of library resources, systems, and services on institutional performance. Findings revealed that library resources and library services have a positive and statistically significant impact on teaching and learning, research, and consultancy activities, while library systems significantly influence research but show limited effect on other functions. The study concludes that academic libraries, particularly through adequate resources and effective service delivery, play a vital role in enhancing institutional performance. It recommends increased investment in library resources, continuous staff training, and improved research support services to strengthen the contribution of libraries in HEIs.
