Evaluation of an In-Patient Diabetes Specialist Nurse Service

INTERVENTION: This study has a prospective quasi‐experimental design and will be implemented in two clinical areas: general and elderly medicine. Nine general and elderly wards will be randomised into control and intervention wards. CONDITION: Nutritional, Metabolic, Endocrine: Diabetes ; Nutritional, Metabolic, Endocrine ; Diabetes PRIMARY OUTCOME: Not provided at time of registration SECONDARY OUTCOME: Not provided at time of registration INCLUSION CRITERIA: 316 patients, including all adults with diabetes mellitus Type 1 or Type 2, and who are admitted as an emergency admission to the medical and elderly wards due to a diabetes related or unrelated cause.
