Ephedra and green tea mesotherapy : aesthetic effect on localized fat and safety

INTERVENTION: Drug : Active group : Ephedra plus green tea mesotherapy Placebo group : Normal saline mesotherapy. A total of 8 weekly herbal mesotherapy treatments were administered: 4 treatments were administered to the right thigh (1st period), followed by a 1‐week wash‐out and the other 4 treatments were administered to the left thigh (2nd period) CONDITION: Endocrine, nutritional and metabolic disease PRIMARY OUTCOME: Anthropometry(thigh circumference) Subcutaneous fat area SECONDARY OUTCOME: Adverse effect Free fatty acid INCLUSION CRITERIA: Subjects had to be Korean women between 20‐35y of age with a BMI of over 23kg/m2. They must have been weight‐stable within 3 kg during the last 6 months. Only non‐smoking, moderately sedentary housewives and office‐workers who did not exercise regularly and walked less than 2 hours a day were recruited.
