INTERVENTION: A total of 72 smokers will be included in the survey, according to the sample size calculation (24 smokers in each group). Participants will be invited from local media and will include those who meet the following inclusion criteria: (1) smoking at least 5 cigarettes / day; (2) over 18 years; (3) clinically stable individuals with no change in medications for at least 30 days; (4) smokers who have a desire to quit smoking; (5) physically inactive individuals according to pedometer evaluation (<7,500 steps / day). Smokers who meet the following exclusion criteria will be excluded: (1) individuals with pathological conditions that prevent physical exercise (orthopedic, neurological diseases, uncontrolled hypertension) and (2) people who have lost more than 20 pounds in the last year. The evaluations will consist of: anamnesis, obtaining personal identification data, investigation of smoking history, clinical criteria of physical dependence on nicotine and pre‐existing comorbidities. Questionnaires will be applied regarding: nicotine dependence (Fagerstöm test), degree of motivation of Prochaska and Diclemente, quality of life (Medical Outcomes Study 36 ‐ Item Short ‐ Form Health Survey ‐ SF‐36) and anxiety symptoms (Inventory of State‐Trait Anxiety) and depression (Beck Depression Inventory) and sleep quality (Insomnia Severity Index, Pittsburgh‐ Sleep Quality Index, and Epworth Sleepiness Scale). Carbon monoxide analysis will be performed by the monoximetry apparatus. Pulmonary function will be assessed by spirometry. For the evaluation of functionality will be performed the tests that make up the Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB) and the 6‐minute Walk Test (6MWT) and for the assessment of peripheral muscle strength will be used manual dynamometer. To Accelerometry Other Tobacco Use Cessation CONDITION: Smokers The study will be conducted in smokers ; Smokers PRIMARY OUTCOME: Abstinence verified by mnoxymetry (<10 ppm). SECONDARY OUTCOME: Quality of life, assessed by the Quality of Life Questionnaire Medical Outcomes Study 36 ‐ Item Short ‐ Form Health Survey ‐ SF‐36; anxiety and depression symptoms, assessed by the State‐Trait Anxiety Inventory and Beck Depression Inventory questionnaires; sleep quality, assessed by the Insomnia Severity Index, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Epworth Sleepiness Scale questionnaires, pulmonary function assessed by the spirometry test, functionality by the battery of Short Physical tests Performance Battery and the Six‐Minute Walking Test, peripheral muscle strength through the dynamometry test and physical activity level that will be assessed using a pedometer and accelerometer. INCLUSION CRITERIA: Smokers who smoke at least 5 cigarettes / day, over the age of 18, are clinically stable and have not had medication changes for at least 30 days, have a desire to stop smoking and participate in the anti‐smoking program and individuals physically inactive according to physical activity level assessment.
