OBJECTIVE: To observe clinical therapeutic effects of different acupuncture times on peripheral facial paralysis. METHODS: Forty-nine cases of peripheral facial paralysis were randomly divided into 2 groups, group A and B. The group A received acupuncture, once daily, and the group B twice each week. Their therapeutic effects were assessed after 3 courses. RESULTS: The acupuncture times were not direct proportion to the therapeutic effect (P<0.01), with no significant difference between the two groups in the cured rate (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: Acupuncture treatment can select twice each week for peripheral facial paralysis.
