Efficacy of Rehabilitation on 216 Patients with Nonspecific Low Back Pain

OBJECTIVE: To assess different treatments on nonspecific low back pain. METHODS: 246 subjects were assigned to 3 groups,a control group(n=82),a home exercise group (n=82) or a strengthening exercise group (n=82). Follow-up data were obtained at 1 months, 3 months and 6 months after the treatment. Primary outcome measures were modified Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Questionnaire for disability and Numeric Pain Rating Scale for pain. RESULTS: The home exercise and strengthening exercise groups experienced greater improvements in disability than the control group 6 months after the treatment.The strengthening exercise group demonstrated greater change than home exercise group. CONCLUSION: Active rehabilitation therapy may benefit nonspecific low back pain patients.
