Exposure to a heavy dose of Salmonella typhimurium at 1-day-old caused a marked serological response in ducklings which was monitored for 11 weeks. The microantiglobulin test proved to be the most sensitive of three serological methods. The rapid slide test was of no value after the 4th week of infection. All the ducklings excreted 5. typhimurium during the early part of the experiment but at postmortem examination the organism was isolated from less than 50% of the birds.
