INTERVENTION: Initial assessment by triage clinician. Three arms of study: 1. Specialist 2. Extended Scope Physio triage who randomises groups to controls or ESP cases 3. Secondary care physiotherapist CONDITION: Musculoskeletal Diseases: Back pain ; Musculoskeletal Diseases ; Back pain PRIMARY OUTCOME: Results from this study will provide evidence for service development in back pain management SECONDARY OUTCOME: Not provided at time of registration INCLUSION CRITERIA: Patients are eligible for this study if acute back pain from 2‐12 weeks duration or chronic mechanical pain >12.
