Coronavirus pandemic: strategies that mitigate occupational stress in health workers

Objective: to systematize knowledge about occupational stress mitigation strategies in health workers during the coronavirus pandemic. Method: integrative review of articles published in Portuguese, English or Spanish, available in full at LILACS, CINAHL, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science and PubMed. The descriptors "coronavirus / coronavirus", "professional exhaustion / professional burnout" or "occupational stress / occupational stress" were used, respectively, with seven studies being selected and analyzed. Results: the main components explored in the articles about occupational stress were: improvement of working conditions; flexible working hours; psychosocial support for professionals and family members; stress management activities. Conclusion: strategies for coping and controlling stressors in health professionals include actions to promote mental health, self-help and spirituality, management programs and educational actions.
