INTERVENTION: Antioxidants Dietary supplement Dietary Supplements Experimental group 1: 9 healthy men who received 1.5 grams of Curcuma longa L. orally, fasting, in a single dose. Experimental group 2: 9 healthy men who received 3.0 grams of Curcuma longa L. orally, fasting, in a single dose. Experimental group 3: 9 healthy men who received 6.0 grams of Curcuma longa L. orally, fasting, in a single dose. Supplements were offered at random. All individuals participated in all treatments (crossover) and there was an interval of 7 days between treatments (washout) CONDITION: Oxidative Stress oxidative stress; antioxidant ; Oxidative Stress PRIMARY OUTCOME: A greater antioxidant effect was observed (5%), evaluated by the DPPH method, with the lowest dosage of Curcuma longa L. It is expected to find a greater antioxidant effect (10%), verified by the DPPH method, in the group that will receive the highest dosage of Curcuma longa L. SECONDARY OUTCOME: It is expected to find that the highest dose of Curcuma longa L. promotes a greater increase in serum plasma curcumin concentration (10%) measured by HPLC No difference was observed between the dosages of Curcuma longa L. on the serum concentration of plasma curcumin measured by HPLC INCLUSION CRITERIA: Healthy men aged between 20 to 40 years; able to complete all study assessments
