INTERVENTION: This is a randomized controlled crossover clinical trial. A total of 14 elderly hypertensive women who meet the inclusion criteria will be recruited. Sampling will be carried out for convenience, since the elderly women will be participants in extension projects carried out by the Department of Physical Education at the Federal University of Bahia. 3 visits to the laboratory will be required. On the first visit, volunteers will sign the informed consent form agreeing to participate, and characterization, anthropometric assessment, blood pressure (BP) measurement and familiarization with plyometric exercises will be carried out. On the second visit, volunteers will be randomly allocated to intervention with plyometric exercises (PE) or control (C). On the third visit, the same volunteers will cross the intervention, and those who performed EP on the second visit will perform C, and those who performed C on the second visit will perform EP. BP, heart rate (HR) and RR intervals for analysis of heart rate variability (HRV) will be collected before (15 min) and after (up to 60 min) the EP and C, on the second and third visits. CONDITION: Aged; Hypertension PRIMARY OUTCOME: Primary outcome – It is expected to observe a reduction in blood pressure (systolic and diastolic) after the Plyometric Exercise, when compared to the pre‐intervention moment and the control. SECONDARY OUTCOME: Secondary Outcome – It is expected to observe changes in double product after Plyometric Exercise, when compared to the pre‐intervention moment and the control. Secondary Outcome – It is expected to observe changes in heart rate after Plyometric Exercise, when compared to the pre‐intervention moment and the control. Secondary Outcome – It is expected to observe changes in heart rate variability after Plyometric Exercise, when compared to the pre‐intervention moment and the control Secondary Outcome – It is expected to observe reduction in mean blood pressure after Plyometric Exercise, when compared to the pre‐intervention moment and the control. INCLUSION CRITERIA: Women; minimum age 60 years old; diagnosis of arterial hypertension; use antihypertensive medication with a maintained dose for the last 4 months; do not present secondary arterial hypertension and/or target organ damage; do not use medications that directly affect cardiac autonomic regulation (e.g. beta blockers and non‐dihydropyridine calcium channel inhibitors); do not present other cardiovascular diseases; do not present class 2 obesity or higher; do not have diabetes with complications or use insulin; do not present orthopedic damage that hinders the practice of resistance training
