OBJECTIVE: To investigate the curative effect of acupuncture and moxibustion on HIV positive peripheral facial paralysis. METHOD: Patients with HIV positive facial paralysis were divided for treatment into acupuncture, moxibustion, acupuncture-moxibustion and control (intramuscular injection of vitamin B 1 and B 12) groups. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The total effective rate was 100% in the acupuncture-moxibustion group, which was significantly different from that in acupuncture, moxibustion and control groups (P 0.05,P 0.01). It is showed that combined use of acupuncture and moxibustion has a good curative effect on HIV positive facial paralysis.
