OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of senile insomnia. METHODS: A clinical search literature for acupuncture treatment of senile insomnia was searched by computer search of Chinese Knowledge Network, Weipu, and Wanfang Chinese database. The improved Jadad scale was used to evaluate the quality of the literature, and Rev Man5.3.5 software was used. Meta analysis. RESULTS: (1) A total of 31 articles published from January 2001 to March 2016 were searched, and 7 clinical research articles on acupuncture treatment of senile insomnia were screened out, including 539 patients, acupuncture group. 196 cases, 243 cases of non-acupuncture group; (2) Evaluation of the included literature by Jadad scale, showing that 1 of 7 articles scored >3 points, indicating high quality, 6 articles <3 points, indicating quality Low; 2 out of 7 articles did not describe random methods, 6 articles did not propose blinding, 5 articles did not exclude and reason description, 4 articles were not followed up; (3) 5 articles included in the literature The observation index was the Pittsburgh Sleep Scale. Meta-analysis showed that the difference in sleep quality scores was statistically significant [MD=-1.40, 95% CI (-2.74, -0.07), P=0.04], indicating that acupuncture was used to treat senile Insomnia was better than non-acupuncture treatment, 4 articles were evaluated by effective rate, and effective meta-analysis showed statistically significant difference [Z=4.11, OR=0.19, 95%CI=(0.10,0.28), P<0.000 1], indicating that acupuncture treatment of senile insomnia is better than non-acupuncture treatment. CONCLUSION: Acupuncture is better than non-acupuncture in the treatment of senile insomnia, but there are few trials of acupuncture for senile insomnia, and the literature quality is poor. The specific implementation methods of randomized sequence generation and concealed grouping are compared. Less, blinded studies, shedding, and follow-up are less documented, so high-quality, uniform standards such as large samples, randomized, and blinded methods are still needed to demonstrate the effectiveness of acupuncture in the treatment of senile insomnia.
