The effects of coping strategies on Chinese behavioral habits under the SARS stress

To investigate public coping strategies and the effects of the coping strategies on the changes of people's living habits under the crisis of SARS. Methods 388 subjects finished the questionnaires including the Ways of Coping Checklist - Revised and the items about changes of people's living habits by Internet. Results Most of the subjects use the strategy of problem - focused ( t = 19. 243, P = 0.00), especially problem -solving ( t = 44.50, P = 0.00 ), and there was no difference in gender. Public's living habits changed greatly, but the correlation between the deferent coping strategies and the changes of the living habits was not found. Conclusion Under the stress of SARS, public used more problem - solving strategy.
