Assessed the long-term validity of the results of a pilot test by M. Tulgar et al (see record [rid]1992-17390-001[/rid]). 14 patients (aged 25–76 yrs) with 21 pain conditions were given 4 different forms of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation at random over 20 min periods: conventional continuous stimulation, burst stimulation, high-rate frequency modulation (HRFM), and low-rate frequency modulation. 14 of the 21 pain conditions responded to treatment; most Ss preferred HRFM and burst stimulation. Results validate those of the pilot study. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2021 APA, all rights reserved)
