This is a critical abstract of an economic evaluation that meets the criteria for inclusion on NHS EED. Each abstract contains a brief summary of the methods, the results and conclusions followed by a detailed critical assessment on the reliability of the study and the conclusions drawn. Lay-led self-care support groups are effective in improving self-efficacy and energy levels among patients with long-term conditions. They are likely to be cost-effective over 6 months at conventional values of a decision-maker's willingness to pay.
