Effects of Aromatherapy on labor: A triple blind randomized clinical trial

INTERVENTION: Aromatherapy Complementary Therapies Other The Trial was composed of three study groups: G1. Aromatherapy (n = 20); G2 Vegetable oil without actives (n = 20) and G3. Control (n = 21). The therapy (oil application) occurred when the patient was 6 cm dilated, being evaluated for uterine dynamics, BCF auscultation and VAS pain scale, immediately before therapy (T1), immediately after therapy (T2) and 60 minutes after therapy (T3), except for the control group (without intervention), where T1 corresponds to the exact moment of the patient at 6 cm and 60 minutes after evaluation (T3). CONDITION: Aromatherapy Labor, Obstetric Uterine Contraction Uterine Contraction,labor,Aromatherapy ; Uterine Contraction ; Labor, Obstetric ; Aromatherapy PRIMARY OUTCOME: To assess pain relief in labor, verified by the Visual Analog Scale, based on a finding of pain reduction at the scale levels. To assess the time of the active phase of delivery, verified by the time of 4 cm of cervical dilation until delivery. To assess the uterine dynamics in labor, verified by palpation of the uterus for ten minutes. SECONDARY OUTCOME: It is expected to find a decrease in the need to use uterotonics. It is expected to find a decrease in the time of active phase of labor. INCLUSION CRITERIA: Pregnant women in active labor; of age; term pregnancy; In spontaneous labor; live fetus, fetus with cephalic apex presentation, fetus with good vitality conditions.
