Prophylactic ondansetron for post-operative emesis: meta-analysis of its effectiveness in patients with and without a previous history of motion sickness

CRD COMMENTARY: The authors have clearly stated the research question and inclusion and exclusion criteria. The literature search was limited to two databases but has no language restrictions and does include searches for additional studies in journals and other meta-analyses. The quality of the included studies was formally assessed but the authors have not reported how the articles were selected, or who performed the selection and the data extraction. The data extracted are reported in tables and discussed in the text of the review. The studies were combined in a statistical meta-analysis and a test for homogeneity was used. The conclusions stated by the authors appear to follow from the results.
