This is a critical abstract of an economic evaluation that meets the criteria for inclusion on NHS EED. Each abstract contains a brief summary of the methods, the results and conclusions followed by a detailed critical assessment on the reliability of the study and the conclusions drawn. Although the community-based nurses specialising in the care of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) had little effect on the clinical conditions of patients, they did bring about an improvement in the patients' sense of well-being, without increasing the overall costs from the perspective of the local health authority.
