Nail growth among elderly women under oral collagen: a placebo-comparative study.

INTERVENTION: Experimental group: 40 elderly women will receive supplementation of 2.5g / day hydrolyzed oral collagen for 12 weeks. Control group: 40 elderly women will receive collagen‐like sachets containing placebo for use once daily for 12 weeks. SP6.051.227 CONDITION: Collagen. Nails. Elderly D12.776.860.300.250 PRIMARY OUTCOME: To assess the strength of the nail plate through a durometer; it is expected to find 10% greater increase in nail plate strength in the group that received oral collagen compared to the placebo group To evaluate the nail growth rate through digital photography; it is expected to find a 10% higher increase in nail growth speed in the group that received oral collagen compared to the placebo group To evaluate the thickness of the dermis through ultrasound; it is expected to find a 10% greater increase in the thickness of the dermis in the group that received oral collagen compared to the placebo group To evaluate the thickness of the nail plate through ultrasound; it is expected to find a 10% greater increase in nail plate thickness in the group that received oral collagen compared to the placebo group; SECONDARY OUTCOME: Assess the improvement of photoaging through the forearms photoaging scale; it is expected to find a reduction in the forearms photoaging scale greater than 10% in the group that received oral collagen in relation to the placebo group Evaluate the increase in the average thickness of the hair strands through trichoscopy; it is expected to find a 10% greater increase in hair thickness in the group that received oral collagen compared to the placebo group INCLUSION CRITERIA: Women with more than 60 years; residents of the Botucatu‐SP region; who agreed to participate in the study
