INTERVENTION: Group 1: Intervention group: The participants in the intervention group have the task of interacting with an avatar. The avatar presents them with three of their own dysfunctional beliefs and corresponding positive alternatives. The participants' task is to contradict the dysfunctional beliefs by expressing the positive alternative assumptions. The dysfunctional beliefs are collected by the participants after an initial psychoeducational session on dysfunctional beliefs. Group 2: Control group: In contrast to the intervention group, the control group was presented with nonsense statements with no emotional valence (e.g. “Hamburg is the capital of Germany”). The participants in the control group have the task of contradicting these statements with alternative, functional beliefs. CONDITION: ; F42 Obsessive‐compulsive disorder PRIMARY OUTCOME: German version of the Obsessive‐Compulsive Inventory‐Revised (OCI‐R), Obsessive‐Beliefs Questionnaire – German Version (OBQ‐D), Rosenberg Self‐Esteem Scale (RSES), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI‐II), Social Readjustment Rating Scale German Version (SRRS‐D), Interpretation of Intrusions Inventory (III) SECONDARY OUTCOME: ICD‐10‐Symptom‐Rating(ISR) INCLUSION CRITERIA: A score of 0.67 or higher on the “Compulsion” subscale of the ICD‐10 Symptom Rating (ISR) was defined as an inclusion criterion.
