INTERVENTION: 26 subjects will visit the laboratory on two occasions: saline and caffeine treatment. The subjects will be their own controls. Treatment will be blinded to avoid placebo effect. The initial part of the first visit will begin with the completion of the questionnaires. Firstly, the anthropometric data and questionings seen in the inclusion and exclusion criteria will be verified. If the participant fits the characteristics required to compose the sample, he / she will fill out the identification form, the questionnaires of physical activity level and the habitual caffeine consumption questionnaire. Then, the heart rate measurement will be performed at rest through a frequency meter. After, the individual will ingest the saline substance being caffeine or placebo and will wait 60 minutes. (Bert et al., 2006). The following will explain how to perform the Maximal Isometric Voluntary Contraction and the Sorensen test, as well as use the Borg Scales and the Visual Analog Scale to ensure the level of competence in the tasks. After 45 minutes of ingestion of the solution, the heart rate will be measured again to control for possible changes. After being found to be within normal range, the participant will then perform the maximum voluntary isometric contraction (CVIM) for a period of six seconds and will have two minutes of rest. After, you will perform the Sorensen Test. (Baker et al., 2010). Participants will be instructed to abstain from alcohol and caffeine‐containing foods (coffee, chocolate, mate, supplements, analgesics, tea and cola / guarana) within 24 hours prior to the experiment and not perform any strenuous exercise within the preceding 12 hours. (DUNCAN et al., 2013), GOLDSTEIN et al. (2010). The experimental tests will occur at two separate 7‐day intervals to analyze the effect of caffeine on fatigue of trunk extensor muscles during the Sorensen Test. This analysis will be done through Surface Electromyography (EMG). The participant will ingest saline Adverse effects in the therapeutic use of methylxanthines, not elsewhere classified Dietary supplement CONDITION: Healthy Volunteers Healthy volunteers; low back pain ; Low back pain ; Healthy Volunteers Low back pain INCLUSION CRITERIA: Healthy subjects; male; age between 18 and 25 years; do not practice physical activities regularly. more than 150 minutes per week. PRIMARY OUTCOME: Expected outcome 1, delay in electromyographic fatigue is expected to be found in caffeine treatment for the multifidus muscle and the transverse / oblique abdominal muscle during the Sorensen test. Verified by the median frequency assessment method of the surface electromyography performed throughout the test. Expected Outcome 2, an improvement in physical performance was observed for 20 seconds of increased stay in the test position when compared to caffeine treatment with placebo. Expected Outcome 2, an increase in physical performance is expected for caffeine treatment. Verified by time spent on Sorensen test. Expected Outcome 3, increased muscle recruitment is expected for caffeine treatment for the multifidus muscle and for the transverse / oblique internal muscle during the Sorensen test. Verified by Root Mean Square assessment method of surface electromyography performed throughout the test. Expected Outcome 4, a decrease in subjective perception of exertion is expected during the Sorensen test for caffeine treatment. Verified through the Borg Subjective Effort Scale. Expected Outcome 5, caffeine is expected to decrease the subjective sensation of pain during the Sorensen test. Verified through the Visual Analog Pain Scale. Outcome 1, 10% delay in fatigue was observed during the Sorensen test for the transverse internal / oblique abdominal muscle assessed by the decline in the median frequency. Outcome 4, a significant 10% decrease in perceived exertion was observed on the day the Sorensen test was performed with caffeine treatment, corresponding to a mild and moderate classification according to the scale. Outcome 5, it was observed that caffeine did not change pain sensation during the Sorensen test, resulting in a moderate level for both cases according to the scale. Outcome found 3, a 5% increase in msucular recruitment was observed during the Sorensen test for the multifidus muscle assessed by increasing the Root Mean Square electromyographic parameter. SECONDARY OUTCOME: Expected Outcome 1. Increased capillary blood lactate concentration is expected for caffeine treatment. Checked by blood analysis on the lactimeter immediately after the test. Expected Outcome 2. An increase in heart rate is expected for the day of caffeine treatment. Checked by frequency meter every 15 seconds. Expected Outcome 3. An increase in systolic and diastolic blood pressure is expected for the day of caffeine treatment. Verified by the sphygmoamometer pre and post strength test. Outcome 1. There was a 5% increase in lactate concentration on the day subjects were treated with caffeine. Outcome Found 2. A 10‐15 bpm increase in heart rate was observed on the day subjects were treated with caffeine compared with placebo. Outcome found 3. A 10 mmHg increase in post‐systolic blood pressure was observed.
