AIM: To observe the clinical effect of electroacupuncture to the acpoints of head and du pulse in patients with Parkinson's disease(PD), and to analyze its curative mechanism. METHODS: A total of 64 PD patients were randomly divided into treatment group(n = 36) and control group(n = 28). All the patients were treated with madopar, and besides, the patients in the treatment group received electroacupuncture at the acpoints of head and du pulse, 15 days as a course, for 4 courses. The changes of Webster scores before and after treatment were observed in the two groups. RESULTS: There were 11 cases with significant effect, 20 with effect and 5 without effect in the treatment group. There were 7 cases with significant effect, 10 with effect and 11 without effect in the control group. The total effective rate in the treatment group was 86% (31/36), significantly different from that in the control group(61%, 17/28) (χ 2 = 5.42, P < 0.05). After treatment, the Webster scores in the two groups were 6.73 ± 0.61 and 11.23 ± 0.63 respectively, and there was significant difference (t = 28.86, P < 0.01). Ten secondary lesions in the two groups were all decreased. CONCLUSION: Electroacupuncture at the acpoints of head and du pulse can effectively improve the secondary lesion obstacle of PD.
