Building Oral Language Skills to Support Literacy and Academic attainment of Primary School Children

INTERVENTION: Please note that as of 29/06/10 it has been confirmed that this trial was stopped due to lack of staff and resources. Pilot RCT. Intervention consists of 9 sessions of speaking and listening activities developed by the investigator for the study. CONDITION: Language skills and literacy ; Mental and Behavioural Disorders PRIMARY OUTCOME: Scores in national educational assessment tests SECONDARY OUTCOME: Not provided at time of registration INCLUSION CRITERIA: 1. School children identified by participating school as "at risk of academic underachievement" 2. Consent obtained from guardian 3. Child "Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals UK‐3" completed
