OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating irritable bowel syndrome and to evaluate the quality of the literature. METHODS: A randomized controlled trial of acupuncture treatment of irritable bowel syndrome in the past 10 years was obtained through computer and manual retrieval, and the quality of the literature was evaluated according to the principles of evidence-based medicine. The meta-analysis of the results was performed. RESULTS: Heterogeneity test of validity, χ2 = 9.32, P = 0.41, P> 0.05, there was no statistical significance. The fixed effect model was used to show that the effect amount between studies was homogeneous. The estimated combined effect of the two is RR = 1.28, and its 95% confidence interval is (1.20, 1.38). After the Z test, Z = 7.13, P <0.00001, the difference between the experimental group and the control group is statistically significant. And the diamond is to the right of the vertical line. CONCLUSION: The acupuncture treatment group is better than the western medicine symptomatic treatment group.
