The effectiveness of peripheral magnetic stimulation combined with conventional therapy in moderate degree carpal tunnel syndrome : a randomized, assessor blinded, controlled trial

INTERVENTION: Active Comparator Device,No Intervention Device Peripheral magnetic stimulation combined with conventional therapy,Conventional therapy Peripheral magnetic stimulation ‐ Transducer : 3 Tesla round coil ‐ Protocol : frequency 10 Hz, On time 2 secs/train, Off time 2 secs/train, total 20 min/session ‐ Site : along tract of median nerve from axilla area to wrist (Arm segment : 5 minutes + Forearm segment : 5 minutes + Wrist joint : 10 minutes) ‐ Intensity : submaximal pain threshold ‐ Frequency : 2 sessions/week X4 weeks Total 8 sessions,1.Patient Education 2.Wrist splint CONDITION: carpal tunnel syndrome; peripheral magnetic stimulation; conventional therapy; electrodiagnosis Moderate degree of carpal tunnel syndrome ; carpal tunnel syndrome; peripheral magnetic stimulation; conventional therapy; electrodiagnosis PRIMARY OUTCOME: Median nerve conduction study at 0,4,8 weeks after treatment Electrodiadnostic study SECONDARY OUTCOME: Pain and hand function at 0,4,8 weeks after treatment Thai boston carpal tunnel questionnaire INCLUSION CRITERIA: 1.Age 20‐80 years 2.Moderate to severe degree CTS by electrodiagnostic study 3.Willing to participate in the study
