INTERVENTION: Acupuncture evaluation. Experimental group: 20 individuals of both sexes who will undergo third molar extraction, will receive acupuncture treatment (traditional Chinese medicine points: IG4, F3, E44, TA21, ID19, E6, E7, B60 and VB34) 30 minutes before surgery with 0.25x30mm stainless steel needles, lasting 20 minutes. Control group: 20 individuals of both sexes who will undergo surgery to remove third molars will receive a placebo acupuncture treatment 30 minutes before surgery, where the needles used will be previously cut to avoid introduction into the skin. The same points of the experimental group will be performed for 20 minutes. It will not possible to see the introduction or not of the needle due to the opaque casing of the needles, and the operator (single, professionally calibrated gold standard) will not know which type of needle he is inserting. Phytotherapics evaluation. Experimental group 1: 17 individuals of both sexes who will undergo third molar surgery should take a 590 mg Passiflora Incarnata tablet one hour before surgery. Experimental group 2: 17 individuals of both sexes who will undergo third molar surgery should take a 400 mg Valeriana Oficinallis tablet one hour before surgery. Placebo group: 17 individuals of both sexes who will undergo third molar surgery should take a placebo tablet one hour before surgery. All tablets will be the same size and color, the operator will not know which medication he is administering. The total sample will involve 91 individuals. Phytoterapies evaluation: it is expected to find a lower degree of anxiety in the experimental groups compared to placebo, evaluated through the numerical variable of the IDATE questionnaire in the immediate preoperative period, immediate postoperative period and after 7 days. SECONDARY OUTCOME: Acupuncture evaluation. It is expected to find a lower degree of anxiety, assessed through the numerical variable of the IDATE questionnaire in the immediate preoperative period, immediate postoperative period and after 7 days; less pain measured through numerical scores on the Visual Analogue Scale in the immediate and 7‐day postoperative periods; lower trismus measured by comparing the maximum interincisal opening in milimiters measured by a digital caliper in the preoperative, immediate postoperative period and 7‐day postoperative period; less postoperative discomfort, assessed through the numerical variable of the QCir‐Dental questionnaire applied in the immediate postoperative period. Phytoterapies evaluation: No secondary outcome is expected. INCLUSION CRITERIA: Adults over 18 years of age; both sexes; no changes in general health; asymptomatic; will undergo surgery to remove third molars on both sides, with similar radiographic positions bilaterally, requiring osteotomy or odontosection.
