INTERVENTION: D015444 One group de sujeitos (n= 11) underwent two types of supplementation in a randomized and double blind manner: 1) Smoothie ‐ a drink based on pineapple, mint, sage, ginger and pomegranate; and 2) Placebo‐ drink based on artificial pineapple juice. The subjects consumed 400 mL of the Smoothie or Placebo drink daily for 9 days. The interval between the Smothie and Placebo conditions was 15 days. CONDITION: D000070497 Healthy Lifestyle PRIMARY OUTCOME: Evaluate the effect of smoothies on maximum isometric strength. Measured by means of a load cell, a smaller drop in the maximum isometric force was observed at a significance level of 5%. SECONDARY OUTCOME: Evaluate the effect of smoothies on muscle thickness. Measured using the ultrasound method. A lower decrease in muscle thickness was observed at a significance level of 5%. Evaluate the effect of smoothies on the subjective perception of recovery. Measured using the subjective recovery perception scale method. A smaller decrease was observed at the significance level of 5%. INCLUSION CRITERIA: Being involved in moderate physical activities for an average of three days a week; not performing resistance exercise over the past 6 months; no history of musculoskeletal injuries that could impair lower limb muscle performance; not taking any medications or be enrolled in any food restriction program; fit for the study by answering no to all PAR‐Q questions
